Privacy policy
What we collect, why, where it goes, and how to ask us about it. Short on purpose.
Built by Mizaan is the trading name of Mizaan Financial Technologies Inc., an Edmonton, Alberta company. This page says what we collect, why, where it goes, and how to ask us about it. It is written to meet Canada's PIPEDA and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act, in plain language.
What we collect, and why

Cookies
The public site sets none. Our private staff console sets one login cookie for the person signed in to it. There is no advertising, retargeting, or third-party tracking anywhere on the site.
Who else handles it
We run on services that process data outside Canada, mostly in the United States: Vercel (hosting), Resend (email), Twilio (calls and texts), Stripe (payments), Anthropic (the software that drafts replies and summaries), and Retell (the after-hours phone assistant, where a client uses it). Each holds only what its job needs, under its own privacy terms, and none of them may use your information for anything else. Under Alberta law you can ask us which of these hold information about you.
If we build a system for your business
When we run call-backs, bookings, reminders, or review requests for a client, the texts go to that client's customers from the client's own number, in wording the client approved, and only in response to something the customer did: a call, a form, a booking, a finished job. Every first text carries "Reply STOP to opt out", and STOP is honoured by the carrier. Landlines are never texted. Recordings and transcripts belong to the client and live in their own accounts. If you received a text from a business we work with and want it to stop, reply STOP; if you want to reach us about it, the address is below.
How long we keep it
Enquiries: two years after the last contact, then deleted. Client records: for the life of the relationship plus the seven years Canadian tax law requires for invoices. Voicemails and transcripts on our studio line: 90 days. Prospecting records: until you ask us to stop, and at most a year after our last message.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where the law allows, and withdraw consent for anything you consented to. Write to support@mizaan.ca; we answer within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, Alberta's Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner and the federal Privacy Commissioner both take complaints.
Security
Everything runs over encrypted connections, access to our systems is by named login, and secrets are kept out of code. No system is perfect; if something goes wrong that affects you, we tell you promptly and say what we're doing about it.
